Dr. Steven Bradbury is a Senior Lecturer in Sport, Equality, and Diversity at Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. His research focuses on race, ethnicity, and racism in sports coaching and leadership, with a particular emphasis on addressing racialized inequities in football and other sports contexts. He has held roles such as Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Youth Sport (2002–2013) and Research Assistant at the Sir Norman Chester Centre for Football Research (1994–1996).
Education includes a PhD in Sociology of Sport (University of Leicester, 1998–2002), MA in Public Order (1996–1997), PGDip in Information Technology (1994–1995), and BSc in Sociology (1991–1994).
Research interests include the under-representation of ethnically diverse coaches, effectiveness of anti-racism policies, and global football governance. He co-edited the book ‘Race’, Ethnicity and Racism in Sports Coaching (2020) and has published extensively on racial equity in sports leadership. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and actively involved in anti-racism campaigns in sports.
