Dr. Steve Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Coaching and Psychology at the University of Winchester. He holds a PhD from the same institution, focusing on psychological influences in practice environments, alongside a sports therapy undergraduate degree from the University of Chichester and an MProf from Solent University. He is a Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) holder with extensive teaching experience across various educational domains.
His research emphasizes sport performance psychology, particularly the role of coaches in shaping deliberate practice environments for athlete development. Practical expertise includes international badminton competition/coaching and grassroots football coaching.
