Steve Pratt is a Research Fellow at the Rural Clinical School within the UWA Medical School at the University of Western Australia. His work primarily focuses on nutrition, dietary behavior, and public health interventions, with particular emphasis on Australian populations across various age groups.
His research interests span nutrition science, dietary behavior patterns, and public health interventions. Dr. Pratt has published extensively on topics including vegetable consumption, sugar-sweetened beverages, fast food consumption, and nutrition education. His work often examines how these dietary factors relate to broader health outcomes and how interventions can effectively promote healthier eating habits, particularly among vulnerable populations like children and adolescents.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on understanding dietary patterns in Australian populations and evaluating the effectiveness of public health interventions. His research frequently employs cohort studies, cross-sectional analyses, and systematic reviews to examine relationships between dietary behaviors and health outcomes. Notably, much of his work has policy implications, with several publications referenced in policy sources, particularly regarding mass media campaigns targeting unhealthy eating habits.
Dr. Pratt is actively involved in significant research projects including the Optimisation of screening and management of hyperglycaemia in pregnancy (2022-2027) funded by the Medical Research Future Fund, and Towards Trauma Informed Care - Kimberley (2022-2026) supported by the CRC for Developing Northern Australia. These projects demonstrate his commitment to addressing important health challenges in both metropolitan and rural Australian communities.
