Steve Levitt is an Instructor in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University (K-State), part of the College of Health and Human Sciences. With nearly 30 years of financial services experience, he transitioned to academia in 2023 after a career spanning roles at Vanguard, JPMorgan, and American Century Investments. He holds certifications as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFA® Charterholder, and inactive CPA.
Education:
- M.S. in Taxation, University of Akron
- B.S.B.A. in Accounting, Bowling Green State University
Research & Teaching: Focuses on practical financial planning, taxation, retirement strategies, and investment management. Teaches courses including PFP 105, PFP 460, and PFP 468. Serves as faculty advisor for Invest-A-Cats, a student-run investment organization.
Professional Experience: Previously held leadership roles such as Senior Relationship Manager at Vanguard (managing $10.3B in assets), Vice President at JPMorgan, and roles in American Century’s Institutional and Investment Management divisions. Provided financial counseling to military families at Fort Riley before joining K-State.
Labs/Teams: Advises Invest-A-Cats, which offers hands-on asset management experience for charitable purposes.
