Steve Harbert

Steve Harbert is a Lecturer and Course Leader for the MSc International Tourism & Hospitality Management at the Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University. With a background in Adventure Travel management, he transitioned to academia in 2021, focusing on Responsible Tourism and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). He holds a BEd (Hons) and PGDip.

His research emphasizes COIL's role in preparing a globally competent tourism workforce, addressing climate, technological, and geopolitical shifts. He actively supports colleagues in establishing international learning projects and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education, inequality, marine resources, and terrestrial ecosystems.

Steve received the 2023 RGU Star Award for Recognition with Distinction, nominated by students. His recent work includes a 2024 presentation at the Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research, exploring virtual exchange's impact on workforce readiness.
