Steve Dumez is a Professor of Practice in Architecture at Tulane University and Principal/Director of Design at EskewDumezRipple, an award-winning architecture firm. He holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana State University. His work emphasizes sustainability, community engagement, and contextual design, with projects such as the LEED-Platinum Tech Square 3 at Georgia Tech and the LCMC Audubon Retirement Village. He has received the AIA Louisiana Medal of Honor and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
Research interests include climate-responsive design, resilience, and social equity in architecture. Notable projects include the Tulane School of Social Work renovation (LEED Gold), the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Great Hall (LEED Gold), and the Mya mixed-use development in Salt Lake City. He leads initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion through mentorship programs and the firm’s JEDI Group.
EskewDumezRipple has garnered over 60 national design awards and achieved the Just Label 2.0 certification for social equity practices. Steve’s design philosophy integrates environmental stewardship with community vitality, reflected in projects like the Veterans Affairs Replacement Medical Center and the University of South Alabama New College of Medicine.
