Steve Bowersox, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Music & Worship Arts at the University of Mobile. He previously served as Chair of the Worship Leadership & Production Technology Departments. His roles include directing worship ensembles (Ignite Worship, Exit 13, UM Chapel Band) and overseeing 880, a state-of-the-art studio and record label on campus. He also holds roles as Executive Pastor of Worship at Dauphin Way Baptist Church and Founder/President of the Bowersox Institute of Music and Worship 1st, a non-profit focused on musician development in worship.
Dr. Bowersox holds degrees in music, education, business, and ministry. His expertise spans music theory, vocal training, studio production, and MIDI technology, reflected in his authored books such as Worship Musician’s Theory Course and Vocal Aerobics: A Fitness Program for Your Voice. He has collaborated with notable artists like Dolly Parton and toured internationally.
He founded Integrity Music’s Worship International and led worship at major churches, including First Baptist Church Jacksonville for 7 years and Christ the Redeemer Church for 16+ years. His work bridges academic, pastoral, and professional music realms, emphasizing practical and theoretical mastery in worship arts.
