Stephen Robinson is a Lecturer in Cell Signalling and Angiogenesis at the University of East Anglia's School of Biological Sciences. He is affiliated with the Norwich Institute for Healthy Aging and Cells and Tissues research group. His work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and its role in cancer and aging.
Education: PhD in Molecular Biology (1993, UC Santa Cruz), followed by postdoctoral research at MIT (1993-2000) and Cancer Research UK (2000-2011). He has led independent research at UEA since 2011.
Research interests include alphaVbeta3-integrin regulation in angiogenesis, endothelial-pericyte interactions, and microbiota influences on breast cancer progression. Current projects aim to develop novel therapeutic targets for angiogenesis modulation.
Grants include Mrs Doggett Cancer Research Donation (2018-2026) and Breast Cancer Now funding (2018-2022). He collaborates internationally on microbiome and cancer studies.
Teaching includes modules on Cancer Biology (3C27) and Frontiers in Molecular Medicine (M201). His lab (www.therobinsonlab.co.uk) explores vascular biology and translational therapeutics.
