Stephen M. Bowman

Stephen M. Bowman, Ph.D., MHA, is a Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He serves as the MHA Program Director, overseeing master’s-level training in healthcare administration. His research focuses on acute care injury outcomes, EMS systems, injury prevention, and occupational injury surveillance.

Recent projects include evaluating trends in work-related traumatic brain injuries and optimizing trauma system responses.

Grants & Projects: He leads the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-funded project: “Using Injury Severity to Improve Occupational Traumatic Injury Trend Estimates” as the Site Principal Investigator. His research bridges clinical practice and public health policy, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to injury mitigation.

Teaching: Dr. Bowman instructs courses in healthcare quality management, strategic planning, and injury epidemiology, reflecting his commitment to both academic and applied public health leadership.
