Jennifer Taylor, PhD, MPH, CPPS, is the Arthur L. and Joanne B. Frank Professor and Director of the Center for Firefighter Injury Research and Safety Trends (FIRST) at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health. She holds a PhD in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins University, an MPH in Health Services from Boston University, and a BS in Biochemistry from Albright College.
Her research focuses on injury prevention, patient safety surveillance, occupational safety for healthcare workers and first responders, and healthcare policy. Key areas include:
- System design for patient safety
- Safety climate's impact on nurse and patient injuries
- Firefighter injury surveillance through safety culture analysis
- Public health policy alternatives for quality improvement
Recent grant-funded work includes FEMA projects developing firefighter injury surveillance systems and NIOSH-funded machine learning applications for injury data analysis. She previously served 15 years in state public health roles, including CDC-funded emergency department data systems development.
Her advising focuses on students interested in public health policy, healthcare administration, and occupational safety. Current research themes integrate spatial analysis, community-engaged methods, and policy translation across urban health contexts.
