Stephen Lucas

Stephen Lucas is a Professor of Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta since 2018, previously serving as a Professor of Cinematography at Pepperdine University (2013-2016). He holds an M.F.A. in Film and Television from SCAD and a B.A. in Telecommunication and Film from the University of Alabama. His expertise spans cinematography, digital filmmaking, and motion picture technology.

Professionally, Lucas has worked as a cinematographer on feature films such as The Nocturnal Third and Service to Man, and contributed to high-profile television projects like National Geographic's Hostile Planet and the reboot of Wet Hot American Summer. His research explores digital transitions in major motion pictures, as evidenced by his SCAD graduate thesis.

Awarded the Eagle Scout Honor by the Boy Scouts of America, Lucas is affiliated with the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) and the CSATF Industry Experience Roster. His career bridges academic teaching with hands-on industry experience in camera operations, steadicam work, and first assistant camera roles across film and television productions.
