Stephen Kuebler is Professor of Chemistry and Optics at the University of Central Florida, serving as Founding Associate Director of the UCF Center for Ethics. He holds joint appointments in the College of Optics and Photonics and College of Sciences, leading the Nanophotonic Materials Group focused on 3D micro-scale devices for photonics, imaging, and energy applications.
Research interests span nanophotonics, materials science, and optical engineering with specific focus areas including:
- Development of photopolymers and nanoparticle composites
- Multi-photon lithography for 3D microfabrication
- Optoelectronic device engineering
- Metallization techniques and surface functionalization
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on nanofabrication techniques (15/15 papers), optical materials (11/15), and device applications (9/15), with increasing attention to bio-inspired systems since 2022.
Honors include:
- NSF CAREER Award (2008)
- Multiple Teaching Incentive Program Awards
- Marshall Scholarship (1991)
- Barry Goldwater Scholarship (1989)
Current research group includes 4 PhD students and multiple undergraduates, with 6 PhD alumni since 2018. Research infrastructure includes advanced photopolymerization, SEM characterization, and optical instrumentation facilities.
