Stephen Kosempel is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Finance, University of Guelph, affiliated with the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Simon Fraser University (1999), following an M.A. from the University of Victoria (1995) and a B.A. (Honours) from Queen's University (1993). From 2012 to 2022, he served as Department Chair. His research focuses on macroeconomics, economic development, business cycles, and open economy models, with notable contributions in journals like the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and Journal of Development Economics. His work addresses topics such as foreign aid effectiveness, energy transition impacts, and life expectancy dynamics in growth models. Teaching responsibilities include graduate-level macroeconomic theory and undergraduate courses in intermediate macroeconomics.
