Stephen J. West is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of English at St. John Fisher University's School of Arts and Sciences. He serves as faculty advisor for The ANGLE, the university’s student-edited literary magazine, and teaches introductory and advanced creative writing courses.
His research spans multiple interdisciplinary fields:
- Creative writing with emphasis on literary forms
- Book arts & letterpress printing as historical and contemporary mediums
- Gender and masculinity in cultural and literary contexts
- Intersections of literature and visual art
- Contemporary publishing practices
In 2022, he published Soft-Boiled: An Investigation of Masculinity & The Writer’s Life, blending memoir with critical analysis of gender identity.
