Stephen ISBEL is a Clinical Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Canberra and Deputy Director of the Centre for Ageing Research and Translation. He specializes in allied healthcare, dementia care, aged care, and occupational therapy education. His roles include teaching in Master’s and Bachelor’s programs and leading multidisciplinary research initiatives. With over $3M in grant funding, he has been a Chief Investigator on major grants from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
Education: PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Sydney (2008). Research focuses on dementia care models, post-stroke rehabilitation, and aged care innovation, with a strong emphasis on translating evidence into clinical practice. He leads projects such as the EAHOP intervention and the FISS trial evaluating falls rehabilitation programs.
Key collaborations include work on small-scale dementia care models, intergenerational programs in aged care, and technology-based interventions for older adults. His work addresses UN SDGs related to health and education. Grant-funded projects span 2014–2028, emphasizing translational research and policy impact.
