Stephen Hagan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Sociology at McKendree University. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Sociology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His teaching focuses on Social Construction of Crime and Deviance, Popular Culture, Demography, and introductory Sociology courses. His research engages figurational sociology and its applications in policy analysis.
Dr. Hagan is affiliated with the American Society of Criminologists and the Midwest Sociological Society. He advises the Sociology Club and Games Club on campus. His 2012 publication in Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy demonstrates expertise in Eliasian social theory frameworks. Teaching philosophy emphasizes critical engagement with societal assumptions without expecting ideological shifts.
