Stephen Gardiner is Professor of Philosophy and Ben Rabinowitz Endowed Professor of the Human Dimensions of the Environment at the University of Washington, where he also serves as Director of the Program on Ethics and the Program on Values in Society. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Cornell University in 1999.
His research focuses on global environmental ethics, particularly climate change, intergenerational justice, and virtue ethics. Key areas include:
