Stephen Flaherty

Stephen Flaherty holds the title of Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Ohio University's Russ College of Engineering and Technology. He also serves as Senior Associate Vice President Emeritus at the university. With 48 years of teaching experience, Dr. Flaherty specializes in composition, business communication, and technical writing, teaching courses such as introductory writing, engineering writing, and strategic managerial communication.

Dr. Flaherty's educational background includes a Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University, a B.A. cum laude in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an M.B.A. from Capital University, and an inactive CPA certificate from Ohio. His career includes administrative roles spanning 22 years at Ohio University, as well as teaching and leadership positions at the University of Maryland University College, The Ohio State University, and DeVry Institute of Technology, where he served as Academic Dean of General Education, Business Operations, and Computer Technology.

As an author, he published Business and Technical Communication: A Reader-Friendly Approach (Kendall-Hunt, 2002). His expertise bridges academic administration, technical communication, and engineering education.
