Stephen Dye is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Environmental Sciences, working part-time (one day weekly), alongside his primary role as a Physical Oceanographer at Cefas (Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science) since 1999. His academic career includes an M.Sc. in Atmospheric Sciences and a PhD from UEA, focusing on ocean-atmosphere interactions and North Atlantic dynamics.
Research Interests:
- Ocean climate and circulation, particularly the Greenland Scotland Ridge and North Atlantic-Nordic Seas.
- Long-term marine observations, climate variability impacts on ecosystems, and policy communication.
- UK shelf seas dynamics, coastal processes, and fisheries.
Collaborations: Strategic alliance between UEA and Cefas drives interdisciplinary work on marine policy, pollution, coastal erosion, and climate economics. Active in UK Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP), contributing to annual Report Cards and policy advocacy.
Teaching: Guest lectures on Ocean Observing Systems, Shelf Sea Dynamics, Marine Ecology, and Dynamical Oceanography. Supervised five PhD students since 2008.
Engagement: Member of multiple marine science networks, including UKMMAS and MCCIP Steering Group. Communicates research via Twitter (@stephendye) and Google Scholar.
