Stephen C. Jacobson is a Professor of Chemistry and holds the Dorothy & Edward Bair Chair in Chemistry at Indiana University. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Georgetown University (1988) and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee (1992). After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), he joined Indiana University's Department of Chemistry faculty in 2003. His research focuses on miniaturization of analytical instrumentation, including micro- and nanofluidic devices, with applications in cancer screening, virus sensing, and bacterial aging studies.
