Stephen Billett is a Professor of Adult and Vocational Education at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia, and holds Honorary Research Fellow positions at Oxford University. He is an internationally recognized scholar in vocational and workplace learning, with roles as Editor-in-Chief of Vocations and Learning and leadership in global research projects on occupational capacities and working life. His career spans vocational education, policy development, and academic research, emphasizing practice-based learning integration in higher education.
Key roles include Australian Research Council Future Fellow (2015–2018), National Teaching Fellow (2009–2010), and Fellowships at the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and Fulbright Program. He leads research in Australia, Finland, Singapore, and Norway, focusing on lifelong learning, workplace adaptation, and tertiary education reforms.
Research interests include learning through work, professional development, interprofessional collaboration, and digital-era occupational challenges.
