Dr. Stephen Anthony Pagkalinawan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. He specializes in HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Internal Medicine, with particular focus on underserved populations including LGBTQIA+ patients, refugees/asylees, and undocumented immigrants. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and General Pediatrics, he practices at Drexel’s Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice – a major Philadelphia HIV clinic – and the Dorothy Mann Center at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

His research interests include antimicrobial resistance, HIV management strategies, and improving care access for marginalized communities. Recent work has explored carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae transmission in hospitals and challenges in treating heavily treatment-experienced HIV patients. He actively presents on topics like CMV prophylaxis and PrEP implementation.
