Dr. Stephen Allen is a Lecturer in Organisation Studies at the Sheffield University Management School, University of Sheffield. He joined in 2018 after lecturing at Hull University Business School (2014-2018) and completing his PhD at Lancaster University Management School (2012). His interdisciplinary research bridges sustainability, reflexivity, and leadership, focusing on socio-ecological organizing and critical management education.

Stephen’s teaching emphasizes critical pedagogy and reflexive practice, drawing on his diverse professional experience across start-ups, multinational corporations, and consulting firms. He co-founded a London-based start-up and worked in global sales at a New York tech company, informing his practical approach to education.
He is a member of the Organisation Studies research cluster and serves on the International Editorial Board for Management Learning. His recent grants include projects on democratic voice in employee-owned businesses (White Rose DTP, 2025) and organizational democracy (British Academy/Leverhulme, 2023).
