Dr. Stephen Agyeman is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy Policy, University of Strathclyde. He holds a PhD in Energy Economics and Management from Xiamen University, China. His research focuses on energy policy, climate change mitigation, and the economic implications of energy sector regulation. Current projects include techno-economic assessments of carbon capture and storage (CCS) integration in Scottish industrial clusters and evaluating the economic viability of tidal energy systems.
His expertise spans energy transition strategies, renewable energy policy, and sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly in African regions. He has contributed to studies on transport carbon efficiency in Africa, renewable energy substitution in North Africa, and greenhouse gas emission dynamics in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent collaborations include projects with Scotland Gas Networks (SGN) on hydrogen electrolyser capabilities and co-production activities with Statkraft.
Dr. Agyeman's work aligns with UN SDGs 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 13 (Climate Action), and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). He has published extensively in energy economics, environmental policy, and sustainability, with notable outputs including policy briefs on tidal energy economics and peer-reviewed articles on CCS applications in chemical industries.
