Stephen A. Nathan

Stephen A. Nathan is a Professor and Assistant Department Chair in the Environmental Earth Science department at Eastern Connecticut State University. With a multidisciplinary background in paleoceanography, micropaleontology, and geothermal energy, he bridges geological sciences with sustainable energy education.

His research focuses on the historical development of the Western Pacific Warm Pool and East Asian Monsoon systems, alongside geothermal properties of the Hartford Basin. Teaching interests include sustainable energy courses (lecture and lab), energy issues in geoscience, and oceanography. Publications highlight his work in energy literacy pedagogy and paleoenvironmental studies.

Previously taught at University of Massachusetts Amherst, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and community colleges. Senior post-doctoral research associate at Massachusetts Geological Survey.
