Dr. Stephen A Falk is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Anatomy at Yale School of Medicine. Previously, he held roles at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Strong Memorial Hospital. His clinical expertise spans otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, thyroid surgery, and endocrine disorders. He has authored/co-authored textbooks including Thyroid Disease: Endocrinology, Surgery, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy, and serves as a section editor for journals like The Thyroid and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Falk earned his MD from New York University, completed residency and chief residency in otolaryngology at Stanford University, and post-doctoral studies in biostatistics at UNC. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and holds board certifications in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery.
His research focuses on thyroid surgery complications, recurrent laryngeal nerve management, and hypocalcemia prevention. Teaching is central to his career, with awards including the Charles Bohmfalk Prize nomination for excellence in clinical sciences education. He has lectured internationally on anatomy, neurology, and surgical techniques, integrating hands-on cadaver laboratory experiences for Yale medical students.
Dr. Falk’s contributions extend to professional societies, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Head and Neck Society. He holds additional certifications in financial consulting and has served in the U.S. Public Health Service.
