Stephen A Brown serves as a Researcher in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. His work is associated with the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center, a leading institution for diabetes treatment, prevention, education and research established in 2008.
Dr. Brown's research interests focus on diabetes and related metabolic disorders. His work contributes to the center's mission of improving diabetes prevention, quality of life and health outcomes for patients in Kentucky, where diabetes prevalence is among the highest in the United States with 12.9% of adults diagnosed.
The Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center provides comprehensive care for all types of diabetes and related complications through a multidisciplinary team approach. The center operates from a 20,000-square-foot facility at UK HealthCare - Turfland in Lexington, Kentucky, integrating pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and ophthalmology services to provide seamless coordinated care for patients ranging from infants to seniors.
Established through the generous support of the Barnstable Brown family who have donated nearly $16 million for research and patient care, the center serves thousands of patients annually while advancing diabetes research through initiatives like the Rising Stars Symposium and Diabetes and Obesity Summer Research Fellows Program.
