Stephanie Wright is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Queen's University, Canada. She is affiliated with the Smith School of Engineering and holds roles as an Associate Editor for the Hydrogeology Journal and board member of a non-profit focused on watershed conservation since 2017. Her expertise lies in cryo-hydrogeology, permafrost thaw processes, fractured rock hydrogeology, and climate change impacts on cold-region groundwater systems.
Education: PhD in Civil Engineering (2016–2021) and BASc in Geological Engineering (2012–2016), both from Queen's University. Postdoctoral research (2021–2022) at Wilfrid Laurier University focused on permafrost thaw effects at Scotty Creek, Northwest Territories.
Research interests include cryo-hydrogeology, climate adaptation strategies for water resources, and sustainable drinking water supplies. Her work combines field investigations with statistical and numerical modeling to address challenges in permafrost regions, emphasizing collaboration with Indigenous communities and policymakers.
Recent articles highlight advancements in understanding permafrost thaw impacts, nutrient cycling in peatlands, and midwinter groundwater recharge mechanisms. She advocates for interdisciplinary approaches to integrate science with policy, particularly in northern Canada.
