Stephanie Sydlik is a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University since August 2015. She earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the mentorship of Professor Timothy Swager, focusing on triptycene and nanocarbon-based materials. As a postdoctoral fellow at MIT in the laboratory of Professor Robert Langer, she developed biomimetic block copolymers for cartilage repair and investigated the biocompatibility of graphene oxide.

Her research interests span climate resilience, environmental impact analysis, energy modeling, energy production and storage, electric vehicle (EV) mobility, grid infrastructure, industrial decarbonization, and public policy. She has received prestigious fellowships from the Beckman Foundation, NSF, and NIH.
