Stephanie Mallinas

Stephanie Mallinas is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Eckerd College, where she leads the Social Cognition and Intergroup Processes Lab. She joined the faculty in 2021 and teaches courses like Social Psychology, Statistics for Psychology, and Contemporary Issues in Psychology. Her research focuses on how ideological and moral beliefs influence prejudice, stereotyping, and intergroup judgments, with particular attention to political ideology, moral psychology, and systemic prejudice.

Her work examines topics such as moral disapproval vs. outgroup antipathy in sexual prejudice, ideological differences in responses to legal errors, and shifts in nonprejudiced motivations over time. Recent studies explore the psychological underpinnings of mask-wearing attitudes during the pandemic and evaluations of religious outgroup members. She actively collaborates with undergraduate students on research projects.

Dr. Mallinas has presented at conferences including the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists. Her research has been published in journals like Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and Personality and Individual Differences.
