Stephanie Levy

Stephanie Levy is Professor in Practice at LSE's Department of International Development and non-resident Research Fellow at International Food Policy Research Institute. Combines academic position with field research spanning 20+ years across Africa and Asia. Education includes BSc Mathematics, MSc Econometrics (Sorbonne), and PhD Development Economics (Toulouse).

Research examines economic impacts of social protection programs, using micro-simulation, CGE models, and RCTs to analyze cash transfers and livelihood programs. Focuses on complementarity between agricultural development and social policies. Fieldwork conducted in 15+ countries informs policy recommendations for governments and international organizations.

Publications analyze COVID-19 economic impacts, poverty-growth linkages, and field measurement methodologies. Provides consultancy to UNDP, World Bank, Gates Foundation, and national governments on optimizing social safety nets.
