Stephanie Kain is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Ottawa, specializing in creative writing pedagogy and experimental forms. She holds a Ph.D. and Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Lancaster University (UK), with a focus on historical fiction and creative nonfiction/epistolary memoir, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
Her research explores intersectionality of disabled/disenfranchised voices, the impact of pejorative language in mental health narratives, and literary experimentation in memoir. She is the author of Lifeline: An Elegy, a genre-blurring memoir examining care, suicide, and flaws in medical systems, which has been featured in CBC Books and podcasts like Better Me and Resilient Writers.
