Stephanie K. Sanders serves as Assistant Professor of Music at Norfolk State University (NSU), holding dual administrative roles as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of the NSU Jazz Ensemble within the College of Liberal Arts Department of Music.
Her educational background includes:
- B.M.E. in Music Education from Jackson State University
- M.M. in Bassoon Performance from the University of Houston
Dr. Sanders' scholarly focus centers on Music Education and Jazz Education with specialized expertise in Band, Marching Band, and Symphonic Band instruction. Her research integrates Woodwinds pedagogy with gender studies in music performance, particularly examining Women in Music through historical and contemporary lenses. Her work bridges classical training with jazz improvisation techniques across ensemble settings.
