Dr. Stephanie Hanke is a Scientific Collaborator of the Library at the Kunsthistorisches Institute in Florence. Her work bridges art history, architectural studies, and transcultural research, with a focus on Early Modern ports, urban squares as political spaces, 20th-century photographic documentation of public spaces, Genoese architecture, and Art Nouveau in Italy.
- Education: MA in Art History (1998, thesis on Art Nouveau in Florence), PhD in Bonn (2005, interdisciplinary study of grotto architecture in Genoa).
- Professional Engagements: Former research assistant at Villa Vigoni (1999-2000), Bibliotheca Hertziana (2005-07), and postdoctoral researcher at KHI (2007-08). Since 2008, she has been a core member of the research project 'Square and Monument' while serving as the scientific collaborator of the institute's library.
- Awards: Recipient of multiple scholarships, including from Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and Fondazione Longhi.
