Dr. Stephanie H. Cook is an Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Biostatistics at New York University. She leads the Attachment and Health Disparities Research Lab (AHDL), focusing on stress, health equity, and social determinants of health across the lifespan. Her research integrates adult attachment theory with minority stress frameworks to understand health disparities in vulnerable populations, particularly among sexual and gender minorities of color.
Education: BA in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), MPH and DrPH in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University (New York).
Research interests span cardiovascular health disparities, intersectionality, longitudinal methodologies, and mindfulness interventions to reduce discrimination-related stress. Current projects include GeoSENSE (geospatial health disparities study) and optimizing mindfulness-based interventions for marginalized groups.
Key achievements include over 80 peer-reviewed articles and prestigious awards such as the NIH Loan Repayment Program Award (2023) and NYU Faculty Fellow (2023). Her work emphasizes culturally tailored interventions to improve health equity.
