Stephanie Bogart

Stephanie Bogart is an Associate Professor at the University of Florida within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Anthropology. She serves as the Anthropology Undergraduate Coordinator, overseeing curriculum development and student advising. Dr. Bogart's research explores the interplay between environmental influences and primate behavior, with a focus on chimpanzees as a model for understanding human evolution.

Dr. Bogart's research spans multiple subfields of primatology, including behavioral ecology, tool use, communication patterns, and conservation biology. Her work integrates methods from anthropology, neuroscience, and biology to examine how environmental pressures shape primate cognition, sociality, and reproduction. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Senegal's Fongoli Savanna Chimpanzee Site and Mt. Assirik Research Site, with over 14 years of on-site research. Collaborative work includes partnerships with institutions like the Yerkes National Primate Center, MD Anderson Biomedical Research Center, and zoos in Milwaukee and Jacksonville.

Her recent publications highlight trends in chimpanzee behavioral adaptation to extreme savanna environments, tool use during foraging, and neuroanatomical asymmetries in primates. Studies span genetic influences on social behavior, multimodal communication, and conservation strategies for critically endangered primate populations.
