Stephanie Besser

Stephanie Besser is an Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne. She currently serves as a Senior Data Analyst at the Cardiovascular Medicine Division of Massachusetts General Brigham and Women’s Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Her prior roles include Biostatistician II at the University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine-Section of Cardiology, Senior Statistician at Nielsen, and Consultant in Disputes and Investigations at Navigant.

• Education: MS in Predictive Analytics (DePaul University); MS in Applied Statistics, MA in Criminal Justice and Criminology (Loyola University); MS and BSBA in Accountancy, BA in English with Humanities minor, BA in Sociology with Criminology concentration (John Carroll University).

Her research focuses on the application of statistics and machine learning in business, social sciences, and medicine. She teaches courses in research design, data science, and financial management of libraries at the iSchool.
