Associate Professor Stephane Mahuteau is affiliated with the University of Adelaide, where he serves as a Senior Researcher and Lead of the Future of Employment and Skills Research Centre (FES). His academic journey includes prior roles as Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Labour Studies (NILS) at Flinders University (2011–2018) and academic positions at Macquarie University, Western Sydney University, and the University of Lyon II (France).

Notable projects include leading the design of methodologies for forecasting supply-demand mismatches in Australia's specialized skills, constructing the National Disability Data Asset (NDDA), and serving as lead econometrician for the NDIS trial evaluation (2013–2018). He has also contributed to the Gonski review of school funding and analyzed wage differentials in Australia.
