Stephan Howden

Stephan Howden is a Professor specializing in Physical Oceanography and Hydrography at the University of Southern Mississippi. His research focuses on coastal ocean responses to meteorological events, particularly hurricane-ocean interactions and thermal dynamics.

Dr. Howden's work combines field observations with advanced sensing technologies to analyze hurricane intensification mechanisms, ocean thermal stratification, and coastal circulation patterns. His recent publications examine how freshwater plumes and ocean thermal structure influence hurricane development in the Gulf of Mexico.
