Stephan C. Meylan

Stephan C. Meylan is a computational cognitive scientist and researcher at the Department of Linguistics at UC Berkeley. His work focuses on understanding how children and adults learn language through computational models such as neural networks and Bayesian probabilistic frameworks, with an emphasis on multi-agent and multi-task learning contexts. He previously worked at MIT's Computational Psycholinguistics Lab under Dr. Roger Levy and contributed to projects like the Bergelson Lab. His research addresses Moravec’s Paradox and employs experimental methods like eyetracking to study language processing. Funded by NIH, NSF, and DARPA, his work bridges machine intelligence development and human developmental processes. Meylan also has industry experience in data science and geospatial analysis.
