Sten Schaumburg-Müller

Sten Schaumburg-Müller is a Professor at the Department of Law, University of Southern Denmark, with expertise in Media Law, Human Rights, Legal Philosophy, and International Law. His work integrates legal theory with practical applications in media, privacy, and global governance.

• Education: PhD in Law (Aarhus University, 1996), MA in Law (with thesis on Marxist legal theory), and Philosophy (bachelor-level studies).

His research spans freedom of speech, data protection, copyright, criminal law, and legal ethics, with recent focus on deepfakes, misinformation, and consent. He has published extensively, including 179 research outputs, and co-authored a two-volume treatise on media law (2020-2023). His teaching includes Media Law, Legal Method, and Technology and Law for journalists and law students, alongside international workshops in Zambia and China.

Scientific awards include the Koktvedgaardprisen (2017). He serves as a legal advisor in media-related cases and contributes to public debates through blogs and media appearances.
