معرفی
Sten Grillner is a Distinguished Professor and Director at the Nobel Institute for Neurophysiology, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. With a career spanning decades, he has held leadership roles in neuroscience research and education, including Chairmanship of the Network Program for Neuroscience/Psychiatry at Karolinska (1996-2006) and the Department of Neuroscience (1993-2000). His work focuses on the cellular and systems-level foundations of motor behavior.
- Current Position: Professor and Director, Nobel Institute for Neurophysiology, Karolinska Institute
- Previous Roles: Chairman of the Department of Neuroscience (1993-2000), Professor at Physiology III Department (1975-1986), Docent at Gothenburg Medical Faculty (1973-1975)
- Leadership: Nobel Assembly member (1987-2008), Nobel Committee member (1987-1997)
Research Interests
Grillner's research explores the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying motor behavior, particularly how cellular activity in the nervous system generates coordinated movement. His work bridges cellular neuroscience and systems neuroscience, with implications for understanding spinal cord function, neural networks, and motor control in both health and disease.
