StellaMay Gwini is a Senior Research Fellow in Planetary Health at Monash University, affiliated with the Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health (MonCOEH). She holds a PhD in Public Health/Epidemiology from Monash, an MSc in Health Services Research from the University of Sheffield, and a BSc(Honours) in Statistics from the University of Zimbabwe. Her research focuses on occupational health equity for migrant workers, minority populations (CALD communities), and improving medical service adaptations for ethnic diversity. She collaborates globally, with projects addressing silicosis in artificial stone industries, military personnel health, and precision medicine for hypertension.
Key projects include the EQUIPping Tertiary Care for Primary Aldosteronism initiative and studies on longitudinal health outcomes in military veterans. She has received the Damien Jolley Award for statistical excellence in 2017. Gwini mentors PhD students on migrant workers’ occupational risks and military dermatological conditions. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals targeting health equity and environmental sustainability.
