Stein Andersson is a Professor in Cognitive and Neuropsychology at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with the Department of Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience. He holds a Dr. philos. from UiO (2001) and is a Specialist in Clinical Neuropsychology (NPF, 1992). His academic roles include teaching courses such as PSYC4305 - Clinical Neuropsychology and PSYC2203 - Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychopathology. He has held leadership positions, including Head of Section at Rikshospitalet’s Department of Neuropsychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (2003-2012) and Associate Professor II at the University of Bergen (2007-2012).
His research focuses on clinical and cognitive neuropsychology, utilizing neuropsychological testing and electrophysiological methods (e.g., ERP). Ongoing projects investigate neurocognitive changes in affective disorders, neurosurgical outcomes in Parkinson’s disease, and post-cancer cognitive sequelae. He collaborates with departments at Oslo University Hospital (OUS), including Neurology, Pediatric Departments, and the Department of Biological and Medical Psychology at UiB.
Key awards include the Bjørn Christianssen Memorial Prize (2008). His work spans over 100 peer-reviewed articles, covering topics like EEG-based neural plasticity, cognitive rehabilitation post-brain injury, and fatigue management. He is also actively involved in clinical trials evaluating interventions for neurocognitive impairments in survivors of cancer and neurological disorders.
