Stefano Zambelli is a Full Professor of Political Economy at the Department of Economics and Management, University of Trento, Italy. Previously, he held academic positions at Aalborg University, Denmark, including roles as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor of Economics. His research focuses on political economy, computational economics, and monetary policy. He has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels in macroeconomics, computable economics, and business cycle theories.
Education includes a Nuclear Physics diploma and a cum laude Economics degree from the University of Modena. He has held visiting roles at UCLA, Bologna University, and Modena University. His research interests span Sraffian economics, algorithmic social sciences, and the methodology of economics. He is a founding member of the Algorithmic Social Sciences Research Unit (ASSRU) at Trento University and has led departmental roles, including Head of Department in 2010-2011.
Zambelli’s work critiques neoclassical economics, emphasizing computational methods and classical traditions. His awards include the 2015 Premio Internazionale NordSud. He has supervised numerous theses and contributed to projects on economic integration, technological progress measurement, and nonlinear dynamics in economic systems.
