Stefanie Ferreri

Stefanie Ferreri, Pharm.D., is a Professor and Area Chair in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She holds academic ranks including Chair and Distinguished Professor (2020–2024). Her research focuses on advancing clinical pharmacy services in community settings, particularly addressing opioid deprescribing, falls prevention in older adults, and community pharmacy practice transformation. Ferreri leads initiatives such as the Community Pharmacy Research Fellowship and Independent Pharmacy Ownership Residency, fostering academic and entrepreneurial training.

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Magna Cum Laude, Campbell University), PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency (University of Connecticut), Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.

Research Interests: Nonprescription therapeutics, medication therapy management, postgraduate training, and policy influencing community pharmacy’s role in healthcare. Her work emphasizes transforming pharmacies into population health management hubs through evidence-based interventions like STEADI-Rx fall prevention and opioid deprescribing programs.

Grants & Awards: Secured $3M CDC grant (2018–2023) for opioid deprescribing in older adults. Notable recognitions include the 2018 American Pharmacists Association Distinguished Achievement Award and multiple leadership awards.
