Stefania Traverso is a Contract Professor at the Department of Naval, Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunications Engineering (DITEN) at the University of Genoa. Her research focuses on natural risk management, flood risk assessment, and remote sensing applications for disaster monitoring and heritage site analysis.
Her work integrates historical cartography with modern geomatics techniques, such as multispectral optical imaging and SAR data analysis, to reconstruct urban environments and assess anthropogenic constraints on flood risk. Current research trends include the use of satellite imaging for operational damage evaluation and the study of UNESCO World Heritage sites like Genoa's Rolli Palaces.
- Teaching: Hydro-Meteorological Hazards, Remote Sensing of Natural Disasters (Master's Degree in Engineering for Natural Risk Management)
- Key research areas: Flood risk, geo-risk, remote sensing, historical cartography, environmental engineering
- Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining geomatics, urban planning, and disaster mitigation strategies.
