Stefan Popov is a Cello Tutor in the Department of Strings, Harp & Guitar at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Born in Bulgaria, he studied at the Moscow Conservatoire under legendary cellists Davidovitch Knushevitsky and Mstislav Rostropovich. His career includes professorships at Boston University and leadership as Head of the Cello Department at the New England Conservatory before relocating to England in 1977. He remains active globally, conducting masterclasses and serving on international jury panels.
