Stefan Petersen

Stefan Petersen is a Researcher in the Department of Physics Education at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) in Kiel, Germany. Since 2006, he has focused on physics education, science competitions, and the application of machine learning in educational contexts.

• Current Projects: Developing a web application for automated physics problem-solving feedback (WasP) and coordinating the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Germany.
• Research Interests: Designing supportive measures for science competition participants, analyzing competition tasks, and promoting underrepresented groups in physics education.
• Leadership Roles: Head of the national physics olympiad, delegation head for the German IPhO team, and Vice-President of the World Federation of Physics Competitions (WFPhC) since 2022.
