معرفی
Dr. Stefan Koenigstein is a Senior Scientist at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) in Bremen, Germany. His research focuses on marine ecology and climate change impacts, particularly through mechanistic ecological modeling, ecophysiology, and participatory sustainable ocean governance.
His primary research interests include:
- Environmental drivers of marine fish populations and food-webs (mechanistic ecological modeling & ecophysiology)
- Climate impacts and adaptation in marine social-ecological systems
- Participatory modeling & sustainable ocean governance
He has contributed to several major research projects, including:
- Humboldt-Tipping II (2023–2025): Investigating alternative futures of the Northern Humboldt Current Upwelling System under socioeconomic pathways.
- FutureSeas 2.0 (2020–2023): Assessing climate and ecosystem impacts on the California Current forage complex.
- FutureSeas (2018–2020): Developing physics-to-fisheries management strategies for the California Current.
- HumboldtTipping (2017–2018): Studying tipping points in the Humboldt Current Upwelling System.
- BIOACID III (2015–2017) and BIOACID II (2012–2015): Analyzing biological impacts of ocean acidification during his PhD studies.
His work bridges ecological research with policy and community engagement, emphasizing resilience in marine systems under global change.
